Saturday we had a big old shin dig for our first grandbaby, Simon, who turned one. Brian and Heather made all of the decorations and arrangements we just supplied the venue.
They picked a balloon theme and there were so many balloons in the front room and the kids were all going nuts. Our second little foster son sat next to grandma Walker and held on to his balloon.
Our first foster son enjoyed trying to blow up a balloon. After it had been blown up by the adults several times it was loose enough that he could blow it up on his own. He thought that he was so big that he could blow up the balloon.
Heather Rose is always one who will come through with entertainment, well she collaborated with her brother Devon on this one. Just call her a mace, you know the mid-evil weapon. Devon even picked her up and swung her around. She ended up on her face as usual.
Now I will get to the main point of this post. Simon turned one! Yay! He had his very own cake that his mommy made for him and he demolished it happily.
We had to get a shot of him with a bow on his head while he was opening his presents. It is a tradition in the Streeter side of the family.
His mommy had a friend make this adorable crocheted hat with a bright number one on it and balloons to match the theme of his first party. They had portraits taken with him in the hat and there was a giant poster sized picture of Simon on the wall. I teased that I need to get one just like it made and leave it on display.
Before too many guests arrived Simon walked, yes you heard me correctly, he walked into my kitchen and got into grandma's Tupperware cupboard and proceeded to pull all of the bowls and lids out and throw them on the floor.
I think that it was a great day. It is so much fun to have a full house and celebrate this special milestone!
